The problem: Trivia buffs across New York City faced a frustrating challenge: finding up-to-date, comprehensive information on trivia nights throughout the city. Existing listings were often incomplete, outdated, or scattered across unreliable sources.
The solution:
I created NYC Trivia List to centralize and streamline the process of finding the perfect trivia night.
- Robust backend: The site runs on Next.js for reliable performance, integrated with Sanity CMS for straightforward content management.
- Focus on user experience: TailwindCSS ensures a stylish, responsive design tailored to finding trivia quickly. Day, borough, and neighborhood filters alongside an interactive Leaflet map help users pinpoint their ideal trivia spot in just a few clicks.
- Automated updates: Custom Python cron jobs proactively crawl trivia hosts' websites, seeking changes to schedules and venues.
- Community driven: A contact form enables site visitors to submit corrections and suggest new venues.
Technical highlights
- Next.js expertise: Delivered a fast, SEO-friendly, and easily maintainable web application.
- CMS integration: Demonstrated fluency in integrating Sanity CMS for non-technical content management.
- Mapping solutions: Seamlessly incorporated Leaflet for interactive map displays.
- Proactive automation: Used Python cron jobs to reduce manual tasks and ensure information stays reliable.
